A custom PC can give you exactly the performance you need, with room to grow. Start with these decisions and the parts list gets much easier.
1. What will it do?
- Gaming: the graphics card matters most, matched to your monitor's resolution and refresh rate
- Video editing, 3D or CAD: more memory and a strong processor, and a graphics card the software supports
- Office work and browsing: a pre-built business computer is often the better value
- Running AI models at home: graphics-card memory is the limit
2. Set the budget, then split it
Decide the total first, including the monitor, keyboard, mouse and Windows licence if you need them. Then put the money where your use needs it, rather than spreading it evenly.
3. Don't cut corners on the quiet parts
- A quality power supply from a known brand protects everything else
- A fast solid-state drive (NVMe) makes the whole computer feel quick
- Good airflow and coolers keep it quiet and long-lasting
4. Leave room to grow
Spare memory slots, a power supply with headroom, and a case with space for a bigger graphics card let you upgrade later instead of replacing it.
5. Warranty and support
Each part has its own manufacturer warranty. Ask who handles a fault: with a builder, you have one place to call.
We plan the parts around what you'll actually do, build and test it, and set it up ready to use.
