When you let us work on your technology, you're trusting us with the keys. Here's how we treat them.
Your accounts, in your name
Your e-mail, domain, payment, phone and software accounts are created in your business's name, with you as the owner. We're added as a helper, never as the only way in. If you ever stop working with us, you remove our access and keep everything.
Passwords
- We never ask you to e-mail or text a password. We'll set up a safe way to share it, or you type it in yourself.
- Access details we're given are kept in an encrypted password manager, never in notes, e-mail or chat.
- We set up two-step sign-in (a code or a security key) on the accounts that matter most.
Remote access
We connect to your computers remotely only when you've agreed to it, for the work you asked for. You can see when we're connected, and you can turn remote access off at any time.
Backups
A backup only counts if it can be restored. On a support plan, we check that backups ran and regularly test that a file can actually be brought back. We'll tell you if a backup stops working.
Updates
Security updates are one of the simplest ways to stay out of trouble. Where our monitoring is installed, we keep an eye on updates and tell you when something needs a restart or a decision.
Our own house
We hold ourselves to the same rules: two-step sign-in on our systems, our business systems reachable only by the people who need them, automatic security updates, and backups we test.
If something goes wrong
If you think an account or computer has been broken into, call or e-mail us right away. Plan customers have our emergency number, 7 days a week, and we aim to call back within an hour. If a security incident ever affects your information on our side, we'll tell you as the law requires.
