We're starting a free series of classes for local businesses, and for anyone who wants to be safer and more confident with their tech. Practical things you can use the next day, taught by people who do this work every day. Free to attend, open to everyone, and no selling.
The first class
- Get found online: your Google profile, a simple website, honest reviews, and how other websites come to link to yours (the right way).
- Spot the scam: the tricks scammers use by text, phone and e-mail, gift-card scams, and what to do if you clicked. Good for families and older relatives too.
- Inside your electronics: old phones and laptops opened up so you can see the parts, with a technician to explain them.
- Ask the tech: bring your questions about your phone, computer or Wi-Fi. Advice only, no repairs at the class.
Topics we're planning after that
- Video on a budget: phone videos that bring in customers, and a month of video ideas.
- The rules nobody tells you about: safety data sheets for chemicals, hiring help, required posters, cash payments and record keeping. Where to look, which official forms exist, and who to ask. (General information, not legal advice.)
- Business to business: finding business customers, partnerships and referrals.
- Work smarter: cutting repeat tasks, spreadsheets or software, and the free tools worth using.
- Stay safe: passwords, two-step sign-in and backups, for the business and the family.
Tell us what you'd most like to learn when you sign up: we'll plan around it.

While you wait, our free tech tips cover a lot of the same ground, like spotting a scam e-mail and online safety for older relatives.
