A new hire's first morning is often spent waiting for logins. A short checklist fixes that, and makes their last day just as tidy.
Before day one
- A computer that's set up, updated and has the software they need
- Their own business e-mail account (not a shared login)
- Access to the shared files, calendars and business software for their role, and nothing more
- A password manager account, so they never need to write passwords down
- Two-step sign-in turned on for their accounts
On day one
- Show them where files are saved, so they get backed up
- Five minutes on spotting scam e-mails, and who to tell if something looks wrong
- How to get help when something breaks
On their last day
- Turn off their accounts and change any shared passwords they knew
- Collect the computer, phone and keys
- Move their e-mail and files to whoever takes over their work
- Remove them from business software and online accounts
We can have a new employee's computer, accounts and files ready before they arrive, and handle the last-day steps too.
