Website prices vary enormously, from free page builders to big agency projects. What matters is what you get for the money, and whether you own it afterwards.
What decides the price
- How many pages, and whether the wording and photos are ready
- Extras like online booking, a shop or logins (custom work, priced separately)
- Whether hosting and changes are a monthly fee or a one-off
What you should get, whoever builds it
- A site that works well on phones and loads quickly
- Your own domain name, in your name
- The site in your own accounts, so you're never stuck with one company
- A privacy page that says what the site does with visitors' information
- Your Google Business Profile linked, so local customers can find you
Watch out for
- Monthly fees that keep going for a site you never own
- A domain registered in the designer's name instead of yours
- Templates that look like everyone else's
Our prices
A one-page website is $500, with two rounds of changes, in your own accounts, and no monthly fee from us; you pay your own domain name, usually about $10 to $20 a year. Bigger websites are quoted. Right now we're also picking three local businesses for a 3-page website at the one-page price: see Founding 3.
