An IT support plan should be more than a phone number to call when something breaks. The best ones mostly prevent problems.
What a good plan covers
- Help when you need it, with a clear way to ask and an honest response time
- Watching backups, and testing that files really come back
- Keeping updates installed on computers and important software
- Watching disk health and warnings before they become failures
- Security basics: two-step sign-in, a password manager, accounts removed when people leave
- A regular check-in on what's coming up: new hires, old computers, software renewals
Questions to ask before you sign
- What exactly is included, and what is billed extra?
- How do I ask for help, and how fast will you respond, including evenings and weekends?
- Can I leave month to month, or is there a long contract?
- Are my accounts and passwords kept in my name?
- Who else will have access to my systems?
Red flags
- Long contracts with large cancellation fees
- Accounts registered in the IT company's name instead of yours
- No clear list of what's included
Our IT support plan is month to month, with a written agreement and everything in your name. Details are on our prices page.
