Common problems we fix

TV says no signal (HDMI)

Falls Technology Services · Idaho Falls · November 8, 2026

No Signal means the TV is working but isn't getting a picture from whatever is plugged into it. It's almost always the input, the cable or the order things were turned on.

Try this first

  1. Press Input or Source on the TV remote and pick the HDMI number that matches the port the cable is plugged into
  2. Make sure the box, console or streaming stick is actually on. Many have a small light
  3. Unplug the HDMI cable at both ends and push it back in firmly
  4. Unplug the TV and the device from the wall for a minute, plug them back in, turn the TV on first, then the device
  5. Try another HDMI port on the TV, and another cable if you have one

Stuck streaming sticks and consoles

Streaming sticks often need more power than a TV's USB port gives: plug them into their own wall adapter. Game consoles sometimes need their display settings reset: the maker's help page shows the button combination for your model.

When to call us

If nothing shows on any port, we check the TV, the cables and the devices, and set up the whole system so one remote turns everything on in the right order.

General self-help steps in plain English, checked when we wrote them. Try only what you're comfortable with: if you're unsure, or something smells hot, sparks or swells, stop and call a technician. This isn't professional advice for your exact device. See our website terms.
