First, check whether other devices are online. If nothing connects, the problem is the internet or the router (see our internet-down page). If only the computer won't, try these.
Quick fixes
- Make sure Wi-Fi is on and airplane mode is off
- Restart the computer (a real restart, not sleep)
- Forget the network and join it again, typing the password carefully
- Move closer to the router to rule out a weak signal
- Turn off any VPN for a moment and try again
Connected, but no internet?
- Check the computer's date and time are correct
- Restart the router
- Windows: Settings, Network & internet, Advanced network settings, Network reset (you'll need to rejoin Wi-Fi networks afterwards)
- Mac: remove the network from Wi-Fi settings and rejoin
Still not working?
The Wi-Fi adapter's driver may need updating, the adapter may have failed, or something on the computer (security software, an old VPN) may be blocking the connection. These are quick for us to find and fix, on site or by bringing the computer back to our bench.
